DIVISION ONE Twilight at Don Klaebe Field v Sturt 2.02.21 Lost 5-13

They had first use of the batting box and we started nervously, giving up four in a very shaky effort. They piled on another six in the third and it was not looking good. Jacko was relishing his return however, taking some fine catches in the outfield and Abbey got us on the board with a double. In the fifth the Saints kept scoring and the mercy rule was looming, but the Coach took to the mound to put the brakes on, and our fighting spirit kicked in and Jacko tripled to score a couple, and we got four for the inning, with the defence picking up as well, with a great double play. We made the game go the distance, and the hitters were Craig Abbott, Joel Chapman, Todd Dunstall 2, Cezar Perez, Troy Nicholson, Jackson Sowton 1.

Away v H & G 7.02.21 Lost 0-10 This game was notable for the fact that an ex-Senator hurler killed us with a fine display on the hill. We did not record a single hit against him, nor a runner on base for the entire game, and this makes winning impossible. We put in some good efforts defensively at times, but couldn't find that fight that was needed. Callum Park had a couple of great plays at third, but lacked a bit of help.

DIVISION TWO

Away v H & G 7.02.21

Lost 4-17 The encounter was tight for a while, with us giving them three in the second by virtue of a couple of very ordinary errors. Poor old Jimmy Chu copped a nasty one from Ethan in an outfield accident and had to retire, but Tom's double got us started, and with Nathan pinning them down, we had high hopes. Henley started to get our range, and although we kept with them for a while, their hitters got us in the end. Hits : Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman, Tom Dineen, Brayden Marchioro 1.

DIV FIVE took the long drive down south, and whilst not coming home with the choccies, performed much better than earlier in the season. Matt Kaponits had a couple of hits, as did Jeff Hunter, and Josh Boden, Sean Flintoff, Josh Mignone and Owen Williams had one each. The score was 5-14.

DIV SIX and DIV SEVEN both had their games cancelled due to the weather and the condition of the Sturt ground. It certainly poured down and made play impossible.

WOMAN'S LEAGUE - the SABL cancelled the entire Woman's round due to the weather on Friday night. A long awaited home game is scheduled for Don Klaebe Field at 6.00pm this Friday evening.

JUNIOR LEAGUE (U15)

Played two games for the week, with the Wednesday evening contest at Golden Grove ending in a fine win 9-5, with Will showing the way from the middle, but Sunday's game against Port was a different story, with a loss.

LITTLE LEAGUE

Woodville

Great win over Kensington at home 20-11 with Noah and Indie the pitching stars throwing to Will who is proving to be a brick wall at the plate.. All the bats came good with Matthew and Jacob being the stars. Attitude was fantastic.

Senators

The Senators had five hits for the day and were unlucky to go down 6-7. Luka C and Oliver V hit well and we had our share of stolen bases. Vincent and Ollie threw six solid innings.

MINORS (U11) 6-4 win away at Golden Grove. Archie, Chase and Remy showed that they are made of stern stuff by pitching under pressure at the finish. Anton and Kylah were the batting heros. Peewee - played at home, enjoyed themselves and had a good time.

DIVISION ONE

Away v Nth Dist Twilight 27.01.21

WON 12-1

We went up north and once again it was the Troy Nicholson show - he loves pitching up there - and came away with another win. Wade started proceedings with a double off the first pitch and came home courtesy of Cesar and the Coach's hits. Anyway we got three and followed up next dig with six with all getting into the act, highlight being Cesar's homer and then three more in the third. So it was an early night and the hitters were: Wade Moore, Cesar Perez (HR) 3, Troy Nicholson, Braydon Marchioro 2, Richard Olson , Daniel Chapman, Craig Abbott 1.

Game one of double header v E Torrens at Don Klaebe Field 31.01.21

Lost 3-7 The big fireman was on the mound and went five in a sterling effort. The Redsox jumped us with two early runs but we got our groove going when Callum scored Wade but fell behind when they knocked us around a bit in the sixth with three. We certainly gave them a big scare with Cesar and Troy slamming successive single homers off as many pitchers. We really wanted the win, but it eluded us. Hits: Callum Park, Troy Nicholson (HR) 2, Wade Moore, Cezar Perez (HR), Ryan Muggleton 1.

Game two of double header v E Torrens at Don Klaebe Field 31.01.21

WON 7-6 Well at least we managed to even the ledger with a win in bizarre fashion. Two early runs and we were off and running, with no one scoring for a few digs, until they got two in the fifth and a further three in the sixth to make us look a bit shaky, and it was 2-6 down in the middle of the sixth. Double headers only being seven innings, we were running out of time. But strangely, their pitcher lost his radar after two outs and walked a couple, and his replacement then threw twelve straight balls for another three walks and he was removed, only to have his replacement throw two more walks. By now we were one run up and held them in their last for the win. Joel busted his backside to get a W, but Troy got it. Hits: Three only - in contrast to ET's eleven. Wade Moore, Callum Park and Cesar Perez.

DIVISION TWO

v E Torrens at Don Klaebe Field 31.01.21

Lost 0- 10 Plenty of zeros in the scorebook, and toward the finish, plenty of red ink. Nobody hit the high notes, but Rhys can hold his head up with his pitching and two hits, and Joel's double was a highlight. Muggsy chipped in with a hit as well.

DIV FIVE

Lost to Golden Grove 4-18

DIV SIX

Sitting very nicely at this stage in fourth spot after accounting for a very competitive W Torrens side 8-3 with the King, having shrugged off his injury, pitching well. Every player contributed with the bat with Steve Couzner having two hits including a dash to third, Tim Fawcett also claimed two, and Grant Berendt, Troy Kortekaas, Andrew Sullivan, Cam Britcher, Nick McCormack, Brett Teakle and James Stradling having one each.

DIV SEVEN

Beat Gawler 13-9 in a game that had its highs and lows. The boys from the bush humbled us with the maximum runs in one dig, but we were good enough to do it to them and add a few more to boot. Morty hit and reached on an error to record a milestone, having reached the ripe old age of eighty, the promptly took himself off. Casey again was on top of his game and the hits were: Derek Milne, Lawrie Sinclair, Mike Chemney 2, Aaron Petros, Nick McCormack 1.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Playing on their favourite diamond (not) at West Beach, the girls were no match for Sturt and went down 7-18 with Carly leading the hitters with three, Darna got a couple and Sarah, Alyssa and Rachel one each

Junior League

Lost to H&G 2-9 with our team struggling to get on terms with their starter.

Little League (Woodville)

Lost 13-11 after starting brightly, slackening off and then finishing with a burst. Indie and Noah pitched well to Will and they were not far off a win .

Little League (Senators)

Lost in an arm wrestle 14-17 with Luka having a day going 3 for 4 and Vince was solid at the plate.

Minor League

Beat the higher ranked Sturt 9-6 with Archie, Remy and Chase pitching well and all the team batting well to score the maximum eight runs in the first.

DIVISION ONE Twilight at Don Klaebe Field 19.01.21

WON 8-6 v Adelaide.

We kicked off with a couple of doubles from Wade and Cesar for a two run lead, the Angels got one back and we held that one run lead for a while on the back of Joel's steady pitching. Adelaide's bats came to life and we fell behind later in the game, but a Cesar dinger got us going again and we set ourselves up for a last ditch effort, needing four runs to get back in front. Well, we got one, and then loaded the bases, and, with two out, a full count, and hearts pounding, Cesar calmly put one over the fence for a walk-off Grand Slam. What a moment. The boys were delighted, as were the supporters. Hits :Cesar Perez (1 HR, 1 GSHR) 3, Craig Abbott 2, Wade Moore 1.

DIVISION ONE at Don Klaebe Field 23.01.21

WON 9-8 v GGCD Would you believe it, another walk-off win. This time it was Daniel Chapman who did the honours. The early going was interesting, with all players hitting at will and putting five on the board, but a couple of errors cost us two runs in their second, and they really knocked us around in the fourth with six. So we dropped behind, but stuck to the task and with good base running and hits in the last from Callum and Troy, we drew level, and it was left to Daniel to get that last run home. Brother Joel is still waiting for that elusive "W" as Troy claimed that coming in as relief - soon Joel, soon. Hits: Wade Moore, Callum Park, Troy Nicholson 2, Cesar Perez, Craig Abbott, Daniel Chapman, Ethan Marchioro, Nathan Nicholson, Brayden Marchioro 1.

DIVISION TWO at Don Klaebe Field 23.01.21

Lost 3-10 v GGCD

The big Fireman had the ball in his hand, and after filling up the bases in the first, showed his prowess by leaving them scoreless. He did three digs - no problems. We were competitive most game, and led through four after Mitch scored on an Andrew Chap hit and Harry doubled, but the wheels really fell off in the fifth, when four errors gifted the Dodgers' a pile of runs. Hits: Todd Dunstall 2, one each to Rhys Owen, Mitch Fienemann, Andrew Chapman, Tom Dineen and Harrison Kiss.

DIV FIVE

Lost to Adelaide 2-11

DIV SIX

Had a fine win over Kensington 8-2, a game in which the pitching of Andrew Sullivan was a standout.

DIV SEVEN

Defeated Kensington 10-3 Casay went the distance in a fine performance and the hits were: Three to Casey Moore, two to Lawrie Sinclair and Nick McCormack, and one each to Derek Milne, Aaron Petros, Aldo McCormack and Tim Fawcett.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

Had what you might say an easy win when the Goodwood team failed to show, and so a 9-0 win was recorded.

JUNIORS all resume this weekend.
