WOMAN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE     V      Sth Districts

at Diamond Sports Park Sunday 26.03.23

WON 13-4

Here it is folks - our first Woman's Premiership - and didn't they do it in style.  Clearly the stand out team for the season with most of our girls picked to compete in the Nationals next month. But the Hawk's girls gave it their best shot, and put us on the back foot early when they surprised us with two runs in the first, which were easily covered with our first at bat - in fact we were able to score in every inning, and it got heavier as the game progressed.  MVP Darna was at her absolute best from the hill, and she was well and truly backed up all day by a mean defence.  Ash's magical bunting (twice) was a standout to go with her triple in the second after Alyssa got two home in the first and Darna had an RBI in the second dig as well.  Then Leah got into the act after two walks, and knocked them both in and Carly was not going to be left out so she doubled and Amara got her home.  Darna got into a bit of balk trouble which let the opposition get a couple but we were not done, and four runs were piled on when Leah walked, Meggs hit and Ash loaded the bases to let Darna score two and another Carly double scored another as did Alyssa's hit. Ash came on to close and it was all over red rover in comprehensive fashion.  Hits  :  Ash George 3, Darna BoersVeen, Carly Moore, Alyssa Lasscock 2, Amara Quinn, Taylor McKay, Leah Turner, Megan BoersVeen 1.  (Don't hang 'em up Meggsie)

Celebrations went on back at the Club, and the frivolity increased when a replay of the game was on the big screen.  The victorious Under 15 team was also included in a fantastic rendition of the Club song.

U15

Grand Final at Don Klaebe Field v Adelaide Sunday 26.03.23

WON 10-9

The Angels got us early with three off the normally stingy Haysey, which made him take notice and tighten up for the rest of his stint.  Dakota's two RBI hit got us going and Jack and Diesel combined for a run, and a passed ball helped us out and we were 4-3 up until the fifth when another lead change saw us fall behind only to catch up and equalise when Haysey and Diesel combined for one and Dakota came good again with another two RBI's. Fingernails were being gnawed down, but we got a break when their pitcher balked in a run and then walked in another, but Adelaide persisted and scored twice also to tie it up with our last at bat to come.  Strangely, they intentionally walked our two most powerful batters (Haysey and Diesel) but then they walked in a run to end proceedings and give us the Premiership. Alice did the closing pitching in a very tense 3 hour game. Happy as.  Hits: Fallon, Ding 2, Van Dommele Stock, Oliver, Hayes 1 each.

U13-1

Away v GGCD

Lost 5-10

Went down in an intense Grand Final at Golden Grove - our guys were in front early and were unfortunately mowed down at the finish. Chace Wallis pitched well leading 5-1 when he came off the mound and some solid fielding by Luke Fawcett in the field was a highlight. This will not take anything away from this team who have had a stellar season, and there are players and coaches here who will make our Club proud in the future. Hits: A Wallis 2, Marshall 1 (dbl), Brooks, Hayes, Oliver 1 each

That's all folks   --  GODANATS !!

DIVISION TWO

Away v H & Grange  Sat 18.03.23  Semi final

Lost 3-6

Great day, great atmosphere, great crowd - disappointing result.  Our fantastic family orientated following were out in force from all aspects of the Club, namely juniors and their parents, our Woman's team and lots of guys and gals from the lower grades and it was a pleasure to see.  We certainly know how to pull a crowd. We scored in the third when TJ's great running got him home from Todd's hit after surviving a scare in the second when the Rams loaded the bases and failed to score due to our defence being super mean.  Tyson relieved Joe in the fourth because good hitting got the home side in front, but the ever reliable Special K doubled to enable Muggsy to get home.  Chances, chances, chances - in the seventh TJ, Muggsy and Kuhna all hit to sit on bases and they intentionally walked Finners, but only one run resulted.  That was all, as we couldn't put another run up, but it was a gutsy effort appreciated by the big mob who turned up in numbers, and whilst a little crestfallen, realised it was a terrific effort coming from sixth.  Hits  :  Todd Dunstall 3, Nick Kuhn, Tyson Jarvis 2, Ryan Muggleton, Daniel Chapman, Mitch Fienemann 1

U15

At Don Klaebe Field v H & Grange Sun 19.03.23 WON 14-0

To the Grand Final at home next week as a result of this comprehensive win in which all contributed, and once again, was played in front of an appreciative crowd of followers.  We are certainly lucky that our family get behind all of our players in whatever grades they play, and after the U13-1 team had their success against Adelaide, the crowd swelled yet again.  Haysey and Alice (birthday girl) were unhittable from the mound, the fielding and catching was immaculate.  Hits  :  Oliver Hayes, Matthew Nanasi 3, Alice Brown, Jack Robson, Noah Atkinson 2, Oliver VanDommele, Will Stock, Diesel Fallon, Indie O'Hazy Zschorn, Dakota Ding 1.

U13-1

Away v Adelaide Sun 19.03.23

WON 7-5

Total team effort against the top finishing Angels, knocking them out of the finals and setting us up for the big dance.  Great catches contributed enormously, as did the pitching efforts of starter Chace Wallis (four strikeouts), Remy (1), Felix (1), and closer Archie (2) who had to endure the strain of getting the last outs.  Did it in style.  Hits  :  Remy 2, Chace, Benji (double), Archie, Luke, Hugo, Felix (double) 1.Three Grand Finals appearances next weekend - a top effort by all at the Club   -

GODANATS !!

Ladies Division One - U15 - U13-1.

DIVISION ONE

Twilight Away v Port Tue 7.03.23

Draw 0-0

So we head off to the Port for the last game of the season with a couple of scenarios going on - namely we had to win to hold a slight chance of making finals if other results go our way, and Port had to win to stay in the final six. Guess what? a nil all draw did no-one any favours, and we missed out and the Maggies dropped out. Oh well, we have only ourselves to blame, as the form since Christmas was generally only average. Drew Janssen pitched a blinder of a game going the entire seven innings with fourteen strike-outs, but their pitchers restricted our batters to only the one hit - Nathan Nicholson. Poor old Armando copped one in the eye from an attempted bunt and had to go off in an ambulance - hope all is well, and we said goodbye to Rackers after a fine career at both Clubs. That's all for this season for the Div One boys, so we put our support behind the teams left in the finals - Div Two, Div Seven, Woman's Div One, U15's and U13-1.

DIVISION TWO

Away v Sturt 11.03.23 Sat

WON 11-9 Div One out so we put all our weight behind the rest of our teams still competing. Sturt finished top and we were the sixth team, so an uphill battle was on the cards. Not to be - our guys were certainly up for the challenge, and in a fascinating game, we put them to the sword and prevailed. Kuhna and Todd put us on the map early when they both hit to score us the opener but the other crowd replied with two in the second and then one more in the third. Muggsy's double in the next evened the scores, but we were really looking dangerous and started knocking them about when Nat had a two RBI hit, AChap hit as did TJ, Muggsy doubled again and a sacfly by Kuhna completed a five run inning. Looking good! AChap furthered our advantage when he popped one over to score another three, but the home team rallied and almost caught us up in the eighth. We amassed sixteen hits in the win and used five pitchers - namely Joe, Tyson, Pappsy, Nat and Finners. Hits : Ryan Muggleton, Andrew Chapman (HR) 3, Nick Kuhn, Daniel Chapman, Mitch Fienemann 2, Todd Dunstall, Rhys Owen, Nathan Nicholson, Tyson Jarvis 1.

DIVISION SEVEN

Finished their season with a 2-10 loss to Adelaide and other results didn't go our way. A solid improvement from our previous encounter with this team wasn't enough in the end, and although Sully and Casey battled manfully from the mound, a few early errors did not help. King was at his best with three hits, and Rev and Cuz chimed in with one each. Bigger and better next year, with a couple of injured warriors ready to come back.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

DIVISION ONE v Sth Districts at Don Klaebe Field Sun 12.03.23

WON 10-6 Straight to the Grand Final for these girls, after a fantastic game in which both teams showcased what is the best in baseball. Pitching, hitting, base running , catching and general play, no to mention the fine respect both sides had for each other. A bit of sheer brilliance was on show in the first, when we stopped them scoring with a double play and we scored courtesy of a Darna single and a Carly double ( what would you expect?) Two in the second was countered by three from the southerners but we forged ahead again in the third when Taylor tripled and Leah hit for yet another RBI - wouldn't you know it, they came back with another two, but it was our turn, and five in the sixth made all the difference. Ash (man of the match - can I say that?) had an RBI as did Darna and an Alyssa double helped our cause. Terrific game to watch, and the large crowd in attendance were most appreciative. We pitched three - Taylor started, Ash relieved and Darna closed. Good work girls. Hits : Ash George 2, Darna BoersVeen, Carly Moore, Alyssa Lasscock, Taylor McKay, Leah Turner, Megan BoersVeen 1. Hope all is well with the knee Meggsie.

JUNIORS U15

At Don Klaebe Field v GGCD

WON 13-1 A pretty comprehensive win against sixth placed GGCD. Haysy started a little sluggish and they got one off him - but that was the meddlies. Lights out from then on, and when Alice came on to relieve - it was ditto. Looking to next week. Hits : Oliver Van Dommele, Will Stock, Alice Brown, Oliver Hayes, Diesel Fallon, Jack Robson 1.

U13 -1

Lowered their colours out at Surrey Downs against a very raucous home team 0-6, but live to fight another day against Adelaide next week. Go get 'em.
